The Best Coffee Roasters in Cornwall

1. Foundation Coffee Roasters Cornwall

World class coffee roasting crossed with laid back surf vibes. Waka waka.

Foundation coffee roasters, Cornwall are an independent roastery and equipment supplier based in St Ives.

They began their coffee journey with a mission to create quality and high-grade speciality coffee while at the same time using the best possible ethical practices that have a minimal impact on the environment.

This transcends from the sustainable relationships they build at source all the way through to the Omni-degradable and home compostable coffee bags that they showcase their coffee.

Foundation focus on honesty and transparency throughout their business - two things that we hold extremely important too. Their involvement at origin stems from these two ethics as they prefer to deal with coffee farms and mills directly.

2. Origin Coffee Roasters

Origin are one of the founding fathers of third wave speciality coffee in the UK and are amongst the front runners in the industry.

Origin coffee Cornwall source direct from the farms. A practice that is true to specialty coffee and one that rewards the people who grow the coffee rather than the many middlemen.

Through their direct trade practice they’re able to support their farm and mill partners directly, giving their customers full traceability of the coffee in their cup.

They attempt to visit the farms at origin every year in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Colombia, Brazil.

The relationships that they have built over the years of visiting these coffee growing regions means they are able to ask questions and provide support to workers and their families.

What sets certain coffee roasters in Cornwall apart for me is the stories that they tell through coffee.

Origin coffee does exactly that, the quality of their coffee is matched by the stories behind it and it’s easy to see why these guys are paving the way into the 4th wave.

3. Olfactory Coffee Roasters Cornwall

The Olfactory dream began in 2010 with a couple that became obsessed with coffee during their university studies in Cornwall.

It was rather difficult trying to keep the late nights of study going over a cup of stale, over-roasted coffee that tasted of rubber, produced by a tired commodity focused industry.

They envisioned Olfactory with a set of specific values that meant it was running for the long term – quality, transparency and ethical trading.

To this day, these values have not changed and are still roasting coffee in Cornwall.

4. Yallah Coffee Roasters

The seeds for Yallah were sown many years ago, travelling along the coastline of Morocco.

Yallah began with a restored 1950's coffee roaster in Cornwall, a leaky barn, and a goal to build a sustainably focused business.

Yallah produce sustainably sourced and freshly roasted coffee from their barn in Falmouth, Cornwall. The name is derived from the word that was often heard in Morocco, meaning ‘Let’s go’ which has always fit into the brand’s culture.

They only showcase single origin coffees which they source from the best and most sustainable farms they can find and roast delicately to ensure the natural flavours are allowed to shine.

Located in the historic market town of Liskeard in South East Cornwall, Lars & Margo meticulously hand-roast select green beans in limited quantities.
