The Roaster
Lomond Coffee are an all-female Coffee roasters in South London.
Created by sisters Linzi and Hayley, they only use the highest quality of coffee suppliers that not only purvey the very best green coffee but also demonstrate that they are committed to their social responsibility and pay the coffee farms very fair prices.
Without this sort of dedication at this end of the supply chain, coffee farmers have little incentive to administer the extra care and attention that high-quality coffee needs and we’d all be stuck with builders coffee.

They roast their coffee in South London which is located in a Deptford Market Yard arch, this allows customers and coffee enthusiasts to really experience the special roasting process and enjoy their lovingly made, fresh brews.
Since opening the roastery they have expanded and now also have a cafe in Tooting.
The Coffee
The Jacinto Lopez coffee from Lomond Coffee Roasters originates from El Pajal village in San Antonio Huista, Guatemala.
The 3 Hectares of land that Jacinto owns is planted mostly with caturra, but he also grows pache, bourbon and typica.
Most of the picking on his farm is done by himself and his family members and once picked the coffee is processed and dried at his family home.
Jacinto is a member of the ACODIHUE cooperative and is the leader in his community, supporting the coop to recruit more members and train farmers.

Coffee has been growing in Guatemala since the 1850s and was always one of the main exports for the Guatemalan economy. Right up until the early twenty-first century coffee was one of the main economic players in Guatemala.
Unfortunately since the coffee crisis in 2001 and many farmers now choosing to farm other more profitable crops, coffee has been on the decline.
One of the great things about coffee production in Guatemala is the fact that many of the farms have their own wet stations so they are able to process their own coffee meaning that many of the coffees leaving the country are traceable right back to the farm, like Jacinto’s.
Guatemalan coffees are highly regarded in the speciality coffee world because of the range of different flavours that can be found. The taste profiles can span all the way from light floral or citrus tones all the way through to deeper full-bodied chocolatier notes.
The Review
The Jacinto Lopez coffee begins with a fairly sweet and smooth fragrance, it evokes thoughts of dairy milk chocolate, more specifically chocolate buttons - King of the cinema treats as far as I’m concerned.
The first sip floods your mouth with a buttery mouthfeel that is carried into the aftertaste along with a delicious sweetness.
The sweet flavours layer together throughout the whole cup. The coffee doesn’t have a hugely complex flavour profile but it does have a very enjoyable sweetness that makes the Jacinto Lopez a super enjoyable drinking experience.
The coffee cools and maintains the body and flavours that it began with.
The milk chocolatey sweetness was really the start of the show. A coffee that performs well with milk as well as any brew method.
An easy sipper that will help you wake up on a midweek morning.
