We are on a mission to sip, taste and review the UK’s best coffees.

Elsewhere are the eye-catching coffee roasters based in London

They began their coffee journey as the in-house roastery for Social Espresso, an events company that delivers high-end coffee to conferences and exhibitions across Europe.

After proving popular they decided to dive into the retail coffee scene and make the coffee available to everyone.

They are based in Deptford, London and supply coffee shops, restaurants and offices all over the UK.

Their unique branding is a symbol of the feeling you get when drinking coffee. A leap into the world of speciality coffee or an escape into another world whilst you sip some of their incredible coffee.

The coffee that these guys roast is top draw. They focus on offering a few single origin coffees that are all perfectly executed and always coffees that are in season.

Elsewhere coffee are also aware of their environmental responsibility as a coffee roaster.

Elsewhere Coffee Packaging

Their packaging is 100% recyclable (something that isn’t as common as you would think in coffee) and they have built relationships directly with the coffee farmers and importers to make sure they get fair value for their fabulous coffee.

We sip and slurp coffee from all over the world. Discover which of these were our teams favourite.

The Origin

The Earthshine coffee from Elsewhere coffee roasters originates from the North Kivu region of D.R. Congo.

Kahondo village is located in the Isale region of Nord-Kivu (North of Lake Kivu), on the edge of Virunga National Park, bordered by Uganda to the east.

The region has excellent conditions for speciality arabica production with plentiful rainfall, high altitude and highly fertile volcanic soils.

The region is also very poverty stricken and has had a severe lack of infrastructure which has made high quality arabica both difficult to produce and very challenging to export.

Virunga Coffee Company has sought to overcome many of these problems through hands- on farmer education and investment in local infrastructure such as roads and bridges.

This has allowed quality improvements every season and, in turn, higher premiums for farmers.

The Origin

The Sidamo coffee from Elsewhere coffee roasters originates from the Aletawondo region of Sidama, Ethiopia.

Sourced from a farm and washing station which empowers women working in coffee within Aletawondon.

Ethiopian Coffee Region

The Bulessa Washing Station aids the local community by providing educational and agricultural workshops for women and children as well as helping smallholders and their families access healthcare, education and agricultural support.

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, or at least the country that first consumed it. It is a country so synonymous with coffee that the word coffee originated from Kaffa, a region in the south west of the country.

Coffee is deeply entwined into their culture with over 12 million people working in or around coffee.

Some of the best coffees in the world have been grown in this country, the various heirloom varieties that are only found in Ethiopia make each coffee even more special and unique.

A typical Ethiopian coffee isn’t typical at all, taste profiles can be wildly diverse. From a zesty citrus fruit to a bright floral aftertaste to a fruit-forward watermelon.

Some of my favourite ever coffees have been Ethiopian. Their washed coffee’s boast layers of complex notes while their naturals are juicy and outlandish. A true coffee lover's coffee.
