Deluxe Coffee Works
Coffee Deluxe is the British cousin of the beloved South African coffee roastery
Launched in 2009 in Cape Town, the guys behind Coffee Deluxe have been showcasing and improving their fantastic coffee ever since.
Their approach to coffee is simple and don’t want to over complicate the whole process. Their menu is small but quality and each blend and roast has been tweaked and perfected.
Their journey into speciality coffee in the UK has only recently started but with their success in South Africa and the 13 years experience, they’re certainly here to stay.
The Origin
The Kateshi coffee from Deluxe Coffee Works originates from Zambia.
I'd be happy to restructure the summary for you:
Kateshi Estate, established in 1972 near Kateshi village in Zambia's Northern Province, produces award-winning Anaerobic Natural coffee. Now operated by Olam, the estate serves as a central processing facility for the region and prioritises community support by providing safe drinking water to 20,000 locals, supporting three schools with 1,500+ students, and maintaining a health clinic that serves over 4,000 community members.
Notably, Kateshi challenges gender stereotypes by employing women in traditionally male-dominated roles such as driving tractors and operating heavy machinery.
Coffee was first planted in Zambia in 1978, with rapid expansion in the late 1990s and early 2000s leading to national production reaching nearly 7,000 metric tonnes. However, the global coffee price crisis from 1998 to 2004 hit the industry hard, forcing most estates to switch to other crops due to lack of investment capabilities.
Since Olam acquired the northern estates in 2012, significant investment has rejuvenated Zambia's coffee sector, with their company NCCL becoming the country's largest coffee producer and largest single employer.
The Northern Province offers ideal conditions for arabica cultivation with its proximity to the equator and abundant altitude, though the mountainous terrain and limited transport infrastructure present ongoing challenges.

The Origin
The Tres Marias Oriente coffee from Deluxe Coffee Works originates from the Jutiapa region of Guatemala.
Fiery volcanoes, huge lakes, huge lakes with fiery volcanoes. Guatemala has an iconic postcard worthy landscape that attracts folk from all over the world. It just so happens that the very things that make Guatemala so unique, the volcanoes also play a huge role in providing rich and nutrient land for coffee to grow.
Coffee has been growing in Guatemala since the 1850’s and was always one of main exports for the Guatemalan economy. Right up until the early twenty first century coffee was one of the main economic players in Guatemala. Unfortunately since the coffee crisis in 2001 and many farmers now choosing to farm other more profitable crops, coffee has been on the decline.
One of the great things about coffee production in Guatemala is the fact that many of the farms have their own wet stations so they are able to process their own coffee meaning that many of the coffees leaving the country are traceable right back to the farm.
