Coffee and check are on a mission to make purchasing coffee less complicated and create a more accessible buying experience to everybody. They’re strong believers in that there’s a coffee to suit every taste. In fact, legend has it there are over 800 natural coffee flavourings, but finding the right one for you is tough.

So the brains behind Coffee and Check went looking and found a minefield. 1000’s of different coffees, hundreds of different terminologies and loads of confusion.

Something needed to be done. So Coffee and Check was born.

Their focus is on flavour. They’re committed to providing the best coffee for the best people. They combine industry knowledge, talented tastebuds and an impressive range of coffees to ensure they’ve covered everyone’s taste and preferences.

The Colombian Medellin coffee from Coffee and check was an interesting number. It’s fragrance suggested a fairly dark flavour profile but the actual brew turned out to be something unexpected.

The coffee starts with a quick woodiness in the initial sips that only stays for a short while to then be overpowered by richer dark chocolate notes and cacao nibs. The mouthfeel is medium with a long aftertaste of raisins layered with more chocolate.

As the coffee cools it transforms into a lighter flavoured coffee, the acidity emerges and notes of fresh raisins (grapes) start to appear.

A curiously complex cup. It is quite unusual that a coffee initially releasing woody notes to then develop into a sweet and fruity profile.

Worked really well as an Italian coffee pot and with a cafetiere, the lack of paper in the filter brought all of the delicious oils through which highlighted those delicious rich tones.
