Hermanos Colombian Coffee Roasters | Palo Verde | Colombia




On a recent trip down to the big smoke, my girlfriend brought back a bag of Palo Verde from Hermanos Colombian Coffee Roasters who have three locations in London. Having not actually been to the shop, I did have a little stalk of their Instagram and they look like they have a great ethos. The two brothers moved to the UK in the early naughties and a few years later started Hermanos, the unique relationships that they have formed with the coffee farmers in Colombia make their story and coffee one of a kind.

The coffee begins with sour aromatic notes of spices, namely nutmeg and a subtle citrusy fragrance. On tasting the coffee the milky body becomes apparent and the darker spicy flavours come to the front, layered with a delicate orange zest. I did

Palo Verde is a crowd-pleaser of a coffee. It doesn’t possess any candied lychee notes that a light roasted African coffee boasts, but I does have some well-balanced delicacies that either the speciality newcomer can pick up or the hardened coffee geek can appreciate.

For me, each method that I tried with Palo Verde worked well but in particular, I found that it performed well through the espresso machine especially when mixed with milk. Flat whites all round!
