TOP 6 CAFES IN BRIGHTON (FOR 2024)

If you think that I missed off a great coffee shop, please leave a note in the comments below and I’ll check them out. There are also another 39 Brighton cafes at the bottom that are still really bloody good.

  1. Pelicano Coffee Co

Pelicano Coffee Co are the pioneering coffee roasters based in Brighton.

The sweet spot between great design and superb coffee has well and truly being tickled in Pelicanos case.

Opening their doors to the progressive folk of Brighton in 2014, Pelicano have always kept their customer on their toes and are constantly evolving in the ever changing world of speciality coffee.

If you are an ‘Instagram scroller’ and you happen to follow various coffee roasters then there’s half a chance you have already come across their unique design with each roast depicting a badass coffee drinking character.

They have harnessed the coffee curiosity of their local customers and have grown into and now become part of the city's coffee culture.

The laid back style coupled with super high-quality coffee reminded me of some of the coffee roasters I came across in Australia and is in fact the place the two owners first met.

2. Flour Pot

The Flour Pot has ten sites and is still expanding, making it a well-liked institution in the community.

It all started with Oliver Hyde's vision of creating food that's made with genuine care and expertise.

Serving finely prepared food made with the greatest ingredients and age-old artisan methods is the hallmark of The Flour Pot.

The Flour Pot is another place that elevates coffee to new heights.

Through The Milk Shed Coffee Roasters, their sister firm, they roast their own beans.

3. Small Batch Coffee Roasters

Founded in 2006 as a coffee cart and a vision.Over time, the business grew into a local success story that the people of Brighton have come to adore.

Despite the company's sleek, dark interiors and quirky baristas, the success of Small Batch Coffee Roasters is due to the quality of its product - the coffee beans.

The company's commitment to roasting high-quality coffee in small batches has earned them a loyal following.

The enthusiastic baristas also contribute to the inviting atmosphere of the coffee shops, which have become a staple of Brighton's coffee scene.

4. Stoney Point

Stoney Point was established with a fervent desire to create an independent coffee shop that could offer coffee of exceptional quality.

The shop's name draws inspiration from their love for music, harking back to an old folk melody originating from the Appalachian Mountains.

Monmouth coffee takes centre stage at Stoney Point, and they take great pride in their precise brewing techniques, ensuring the extraction of the finest flavours possible.

With a dedication to exploration, they are constantly sampling new single estate coffees, allowing their espresso offerings to vary based on the crop, season, and distinct flavour profiles.

Not only does Stoney Point excel in the realm of coffee, but they also extend the same level of care and attention to their food menu. Delighting their customers, all the cakes, jams, and chutneys are homemade, while the rest of their offerings are sourced from Brighton's finest artisan bakeries and delis.

The result is a complete and satisfying experience that blends exceptional coffee with delectable food.

5. Trading Post

When you visit Trading Post Coffee Roasters, every sip of coffee unveils a tale of unwavering commitment and creative mastery.

The journey commenced in January 2017 when Trading Post Coffee Roasters unveiled its inaugural establishment on Ship Street in Brighton.

This pioneering venture showcased a fully transparent coffee roastery, a vibrant coffee bar, and a delightful eatery, swiftly capturing the hearts of locals and earning its place as a cherished hotspot.

Since then, Trading Post Coffee Roasters has spread its wings, establishing additional locations on Cliffe High Street in Lewes and Kensington Gardens in Brighton.

Both residents and tourists have indulged in the exceptional coffee experience that Trading Post Coffee Roasters consistently delivers.

6. Bond Street Cafe

Serving coffee roasted by Horsham Coffee Roaster, which is situated just north of Brighton, is a source of pride for Bond St.

They provide a rotating selection of single-origin coffees that are responsibly produced from small farms across the globe. Bond St. serves espresso in cold cups for a sweeter flavour, emphasising the coffees' unique flavours.

For drinks that use milk, their baristas craft magnificent lattes, and Downsview Farm whole milk is perfectly heated.

Customers can also try their single-origin filter coffee, brewed lightly for a delightful aroma. Every cup is a masterpiece of quality and artistry, making it an amazing coffee experience.
